Meet the Principal
Meet Our Principal
A Message from Principal ShaunaMichelle Leonard
Welcome to James F. Rhodes High School!
It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the Principal of this incredible school community. As someone who proudly attended Cleveland Metropolitan School District schools, I understand firsthand the impact that dedicated educators, supportive families, and strong community partnerships can have on a student’s life.
For more than 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving CMSD as an Intervention Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Throughout my career, my passion has remained the same to ensure that every student is known, supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
At James F. Rhodes High School, I believe that every scholar deserves an environment where they feel safe, respected, and inspired to achieve greatness. My leadership is rooted in collaboration, open communication, and building meaningful relationships with our students, families, staff, alumni, and community partners. When we work together, there is no limit to what our students can accomplish.
I am committed to creating systems that promote academic excellence, social-emotional well-being, and college, career, and life readiness. While we proudly honor the rich traditions of Rhodes, we are equally focused on preparing our students for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Notre Dame College and my Master’s Degree and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree from Cleveland State University, experiences that strengthened my belief in the life-changing power of education.
One philosophy has guided me throughout my career:
It truly takes a village to raise and educate our children.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. I look forward to partnering with you as we continue building a culture of excellence, opportunity, and pride at James F. Rhodes High School.
Together, we will ensure that every Ram is prepared to succeed and inspired to make a positive impact on the world.
With gratitude,
ShaunaMichelle Leonard
